Award winning British director Mike Leigh's deeply human stories of ordinary people and their daily lives can easily be experienced as a mundane slice of entertainment and drama, but with his fine writing and a selection of cast which engages the audience, his productions manage to always draw you in.
Spanning across several seasons, here we follow an aging couple and the people around them, including many of life's cycles, from birth and death to love and sadness. These include old friends, colleagues, children and siblings whose tumultuous and often emotionally unstable lives rotate around the rock these two happily married people represent.
Another Year makes for a refreshing diversion if the regular action or thriller movies being churned out leaves you cold.
